My friend’s university data science degree is intense, has plenty of assignments… but she loves it.

It’s definitely a huge change from her undergrad science degree experience.

There’s a few reasons why:

  1. Every assignment, exam, task is PRACTICAL and directly relevant to real life (ie you’ll apply the data science coding directly to a future job)
  2. Each subject is specifically curated towards the topic of data science (ie linear algebra is broad, but they only learn the content catered towards data science)

All in all, it’s RELEVANT.

In a broad science undergrad degree, you learn basic calculus, biology, chemistry etc, without catering it towards any END goal. All this bulk content is wishy washy, mostly theoretical, and hard to pinpoint how we can even apply it into real life.

WHAT. A. SHAME.

Same goes for school. Everything’s in bulk. Nothing’s personalised to what i’m interested in or what profession, sector, i’d like to pursue at the moment. It’s seems irrelevant, time consuming, and boring.
